This book is for all travellers executives, tourists and students as well as those who have direct or indirect contact with people in and from other countries in their capacity as hosts and for those working in the marketing industry. In international relations we are faced with unfamiliar situations and it is a mistake to think that our good home-bread manners will be universally understood. Simply speaking a foreign language of a country plus ample goodwill does not guarantee a successful relationship.
Ordinary actions such as - speaking on the telephone, making an appointment, greeting people, or whether to stand close or apart when in conversation can sometimes be misinterpreted or misunderstood.
This is a practical handbook on how to avoid disrespect and affront against social conventions when hosting foreign guests in your own country as well as when working or being entertained in a foreign country.
Cultural differences are illustrated with amusing tales and anecdotes. Frederick Marsh uses his extensive experience to offer practical and helpful guidance.

Frederick Marsh was the principal of MBS, an international marketing consultancy. Its clients included business schools, universities, market research organisations, transnational-organisations and the United Nations agency ITC/UNCTAD-GATT. Previously he was chairman and chief executive officer of a Cambridge-based food company. In his time and during his frequent journeys to some 93 countries, worldwide, he has met kings, prime ministers, military leaders, captains of industry and shop floor workers. His sense of humour makes this book readable and entertaining.

He was Chairman of the Royal Aero Club of the United Kingdom and is President of Honour of Europe Air Sports, the federation of all European aero clubs. For many years he was an active private pilot dedicated to handicap and pylon air racing. He was the 1972 British Air Racing Champion.
He and his wife lives in London where he plays Croquet, Lawn Bowls and Bridge. He is also an amateur watercolour artist.
